Some pictures of varieties in the National Coconut Genebank of Vietnam

A very rare coconut palm with stripped fruits was observed in Dong Go. It seems to be a Brown Dwarf type, and as far as we know, this is the first time that such a characteristics is described for a Dwarf type.
Is is not yet evident that this characteristic is genetically transmissible. So there is a great interest in trying to multiply this kind of coconut palm, as it could be strongly appreciated for landscaping purposes. Researchers said they had three coconut palms with stripped fruits in Dong Go.

Except in Dong go, we only saw stripped coconut once in Tonga island, but it was a Tall type with stripped fruits, not a dwarf type. Such a Tall-type was also described in Vanuatu.
